Chain Off 2008 • Unchain our World!
Chicago Main Event

Join Us in Chicago This Year

Last year we tackled Atlanta and Seattle as main event venues, this year we meet in the middle of the country and take on Chicago! Care to join us there? Advocates will be chained for 24 hours, and we will have exhibitors, sponsors, booths, and other events to be announced. We'd love for you to travel there to be chained with us, or set yourself up in your neighborhood, town, or your own backyard! We accommodate all participants, in whatever way works for you.

Whether you want to be chained in Chicago with us, or in your own local neighborhood, make sure to fill out the registration forms to get you started.

Here are the details on the Chicago venue:

This year help us blow last year's 108 total out of the water by chaining yourself in your own backyard, your neighborhood, a local park, or with us in Chicago! Join up 'in packs' to make a local event of it, or take it low-key in a one-woman or one-man show in your own backyard. However it works for you, it's ok by us! We've got more excitement than ever, with a large event in Chicago where activists will be chained, and new ways to fundraise in groups or on your own. We'd like to see 200 people, and at least one from EVERY SINGLE STATE, living chained to doghouses sometime during the week from June 27th through July 7th. We can do it! You can do it!

In addition to being our biggest awareness campaign of the year, this is also our biggest fundraising event of the year, last year raising over $20,000 for our work with chained and penned dogs. $20,000? Let's blow that out of the water this year too, with a goal of $60,000 raised during Chain Off! Be part of it! You can fundraise even if you're not going to live chained to the doghouse...join an online fundraising 'team' in your state, start your own fundraising page, and make it happen.

chained women

Here's how it works: Fill out the form, below, with your contact information, what state you live in, and where and when you plan to be chained. You will then be taken to our page to officially register ($10 per participant) to get your t-shirt and certificate as well as create your fundraising page on our affiliated fundraising site. You then add your own picture and text, send us the link, and start sending it out to your friends and co-workers for sponsorship! We will add your name and contact information to the website, as well as a link to your fundraising page to bring more people and up your totals.

Let's get out there and kick butt in 2008 for Chained Dogs
all around the Globe! Unchain our World!

Read the Chain Off 2008 Preliminary Press Release in .pdf format

Just a few simple rules to live by:

1. If you say you'll do it, don't back out.

2. Get friends and family to sponsor you on this sheet (like a walk-a-thon) or at this link so you can raise money for our work while you're whiling away the hours.

3. Send this release to your local media outlets, letting them know you are participating in their area, with your contact information, date, time, and place.

4. Be mindful of your purpose in chaining yourself...to put yourself in the dog's paws. So please, 'rough it'. Sit on the ground (a blanket is ok but no chairs), but don't spend the time reading or watching TV. Speak to the media and others interested in your activities, of course, but only get off your chain to use the restroom as needed, unless there's an emergency!

3. Make sure to take photos and send us a write up of your success for the website.

4. Chain yourself from 8-24 hours anytime from June 27th through July 7th.

AND THAT'S IT! Could it get any simpler? Join us today.
