My
local area newspaper sent a reporter out to see me and he wrote
a very lovely article! Local Fox news and local CBS news
were both supposed to send out camera crews, but they never showed
up, which was very disappointing - I suppose with the upcoming
4th of July and all the recent murders in Philadelphia, there
were other, more exciting stories to cover.
Two
women from the North Penn Puppy Mill Watch also stopped by to
show their support. They stopped by after their weekly protest
at Pets Plus, a pet store which sells puppy-mill puppies. They
also donated to me online.

I've
also attached the few pictures that my daughter took of me about
2 hours into my chain off. Unfortunately, you can't see the dog
park behind me too well because it's in the shade.
I
am so impressed that Tammy's 8-year-old daughter also chained
herself up! My daughter is 8 years old too, and even though
she spent the day with me, she ran around collecting signatures
from people in the park in support of PA House Bill 1065 - which
supports tethering limits for dogs and stiffer penalties for animal
abuse. She also had a good amount of time to play with the dogs
in the park and to play in the playground which was on the other
side of the park (but where I could still see her, even though
I was chained up). Seeing Tammy's daughter inspired her
to chain up next year for herself. She did want to chain
up with me, but I was afraid after an hour she'd get to antsy
and want to get out.
It
was such a wonderful day! I talked to so many people. And what
I thought was funny was that several people I was talking to didn't
realize I was chained up! Some people thought I was just wearing
something around my neck! People didn't realize I was tethered
to a tree until I had to adjust my collar and rope. One
man that I spoke to who was going to the dog park with his dog
said to me "I guess you're not old enough to go off-leash
in this park, huh?" That really brought a smile to my face.

I
can't wait until next year's chain off! I've even found
someone who wants to chain up with me next year! We're going to
pick a more public location too. I was thinking that we
should chain up next to the Liberty Bell. I wonder if the city
of Philadelphia would kick us out or arrest us...now THAT would
make the news for sure! "Local women arrested for protesting
dogs on chains in front of Liberty Bell...details at 11"
