for a Chained Dog or Penned Dog!
us February 7-14th for Have a Heart for
Chained Dogs Week.
OUR GOAL in our 4th Season is to SEND OUT 4500 VALENTINES TO CHAINED
or PENNED DOGS.
are striving to raise awareness for chained and penned dogs in a
positive way...by delivering Valentines, a brochure and a treat
coupon to dogs living outside all over the U.S. and into other
countries where we have representation, such as Canada and Australia.
what we need:
Make Valentines. Teachers, Students, Scout Leaders,
Group Leaders, Individuals please make Valentines! To see what others
have done, see the link above. The valentines can say anything along
the lines of 'Bring us into the home and family.' Send them in by
February 7th to P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684.
Mail Coupons for Free Treats.
In past years we’ve mailed treats to the dogs, but
have been accused of trying to poison them...last thing we need!
So this year we’d like to get a ton of coupons for free or
low cost treats to mail to the dogs...if you have any, please mail
them to us.
Send addresses for Chained or PennedDogs. This is
so needed! To make our goal, we need to mail at least 4500 Valentines.
Send address via mail, call 877.636.1408 to report addresses, or
e-mail them to firstname.lastname@example.org. You remain anonymous!
Sponsor Valentines. The cost of this campaign is
quite high, due to material and mailing fees, but it is well-worth
it! You may either sponsor Valentines for addresses you provide,
or sponsor Valentines for others who provide us with addresses.
2005 we delivered over 3000 Valentines to chained or penned dogs.
S. Grimes, founder of Dogs Deserve Better, states, “We were
thrilled in 2005 to see an incredible response to our plea. We
received a total of 2,444 valentines from 44 different groups and
individuals in 23 states, along with some tremendously
touching letters, such as this one from Carrie L. Nutter, of Chicago,
writes, “I am an occupational therapist with Chicago Public
Schools, and I work to help children of various ages with an array
of challenges. When I told the children of the project, they were
very excited to make Valentine’s Day cards for the dogs. Some
were so motivated that they actually made multiple cards!...By participating
in this program, the children felt like they were helping others
instead of always being on the receiving end. This helped tremendously
to boost their self-esteem.”
continues,"The students and groups gain a sense of accomplishment
from creating for the dogs, and our hope is that more and more dog
caretakers are educated as a result of the children’s efforts.”
and coupons are needed at the Dogs Deserve Better headquarters in
Tipton, PA by February 7th. E-mail email@example.com,
or call 814.941.7447 for further details.
