Deserve Better Booth Updates
News
From
the Harrisburg, PA, Chantilly, VA booths.
We
ran two booths this Spring, March 15, 2003 & April 4, 2003.
The first booth was at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex Pawsabilities
show. We did pretty well, gaining more volunteers and visibility,
and bringing in about $250 for the organization. Thanks to Dave
and Linda (shown above), Marilyn and her 'crew', which
included her three tiny Yorkies, a good friend, and her husband
Don, affectionately known as 'the Keeper'. Also to Kelly
and Linda. You guys were great, and you helped increase our
visibility a LOT! And to Federico, who made the weekend much easier
with all his help.
Also,
I need to thank Chris in Gettysburg, and apologize again
for Riley! She was kind enough to open her home to us for the night
Saturday night. We went out 'on the town', leaving Riley shut up
in her guest room. In his anxiety, he did a little 'redecorating.'
Yikes! Luckily, she has taken it in stride, and forgiven Riley his
social 'faux pas', not to mention that of his caretaker! Thank you
Chris, again, for everything.
The
second booth was done at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly,
VA. No, Riley did NOT attend this time! We didn't do
nearly as well there, from the way we were received or from a monetary
standpoint. Most people who live in that area don't see dogs on
chains, and so aren't aware that it's an issue, or how serious a
problem this is in many parts of the country. In fact, I was asked
more than a few times if we didn't want dogs on leashes! However,
you DO never know, we could have planted a seed somewhere that will
really benefit the dogs and the organization at some point! I enjoyed
meeting faces from DoggieFun.com, Metropets Online, and the
SPCA of Northern Virginia, all people I've gotten to know through
e-mail. I also enjoyed tremendously visiting with the dedicated
volunteers who joined me there, Cicely, Elizabeth, Callie, Jill,
Darlene, and Jeannie. Thank you all so much for helping
me out! What great people you are.
We
gained at least 50 new e-mail contacts, and we welcome you all to
our circle of friends!
