Saturday,
August 16th, 2003
is our first Annual Chain Off Day.
Please join us in your town or community!
Dogs
Deserve Better celebrates its First Anniversary August 15, 2003.
Have we come far in a year!
We've
been working hard to raise community awareness all across the country,
and even the world! We've sent brochures to Canada, Spain, Japan,
and Australia in addition to the U.S.
What is Chain Off 2003?
Chain
Off 2003 is the day we ask caretakers of chained dogs and penned
dogs to take them off chains/out of pens for JUST ONE DAY! (Of
course, we hope they see them with new eyes and realize what a great
companion their dog can be.)
Here's
what we ask:
Give him one day of freedom, one day to be a companion.
Bring her into the home. Take her for a walk on a leash.
Give her a bath! Allow her to show what a great companion she can
be.
And then send us your photos and we will post them on
our website. Best photo of giving your chained or penned dog a happy
moment wins $250.00!* Rules
of contest.
Our sincere wish is that after seeing Fido with your heart
instead of just your eyes, you will know he belongs with you, his
pack, and does not belong left alone in the backyard for life.
*Send
photos to
info@dogsdeservebetter.com
or P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684. We will need a before and after
photo, before being chained/penned, and then off chains and having
fun inside or out!
How
can you get involved? (These are all links below...)
1.
Get the press release to your local papers.
2.
Plan an event, booth, bake sale, or whatever you can think of, to
raise awareness in your area.
3.
Order the NEW brochures to get out into the community.
4.
Print out this flyer and put up around the neighborhood
where your event is planned.
5.
Print out this flyer and hang it in areas of heavy chaining/penning.
6.
Homeless Animals Day is also that day, include a ceremony for the
homeless animals too.
7.
Send us your photos and successes that we can publish here on the
web afterward.
Locally
we are incorporating an old dog house with a chain and collar into
the event, so that people can try it on and put themselves into
the dog's shoes.
If
you'd like to help, but don't have the time to plan an event, donations
are gladly accepted, just put Chain Off 2003
in the message section. We Thank You! And so do the dogs.
Visit
our volunteer
page for more ideas of how you can get involved.
Also, consider buying an item from our store.
By doing so, you will be providing us with dollars to support our
efforts and at the same time spreading the word in an uplifting,
fun, and beautiful message.
If
you'd like to donate via regular USPS mail,
please send to P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684
