Dear Tammy,
With the theme song to "Pretty Woman" serenading in the background Mollie,
after 11 years on a chain, is pampered at Petco's grooming salon and
takes her first stroll through a pet store, sniffing the treats down
every isle. Shoppers stop to stroke her and remark how "spoiled" our
pets are, never knowing that only 2 days prior Mollie was a
24/7-backyard dog.
At the checkout counter Mollie pays particular attention to a red
and pink caterpillar toy, which her foster mom removes from peg and
places on the counter. Mollie does a little dance as the clerk
rings it up and hands her new favorite toy with a "squeak".
And so it goes, your donations resurrect another permanently chained dog into life of love. How
can we give back to our pets for all the joy they bring into our
lives? Amid all our faults, what we do for them seems so small in
comparison to the devotion and loyalty they willing provide to
us. Dogs Deserve Better offers a way to give back by paying
forward to others who haven't been so fortunate.
This Valentine's Day unite
with Dogs Deserve Better as we give backyard dogs another chance and
remind their caretakers that "you can teach an old dog new
tricks". Imagine how much it would mean when the door was closed
at the end of the day and the dogs remained on the same side of it as
their people. |
Have a Heart for Chained Dogs 2008 Campaign Please Help Us to Meet Our Goal - 10,000 Valentines for Chained/Penned Dogs
We
are striving to raise awareness for chained and penned dogs in a
positive way by delivering Valentines, a brochure and a treat coupon to
dogs living outside all over the U.S. and beyond.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1. Make Valentines.
Teachers, Students, Scout Leaders, Group Leaders, Individuals please
make valentines! The valentines can say anything along the lines of
'Bring us into the home and family.' Send them to us by February 5th at
P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684.
2. Mail Coupons for Free or Reduced Cost Treats or Dogfood.
Last year we did not have enough treat coupons to fill all the
Valentines. Can you help us out this year by mailing any and all treat
or dogfood coupons you have to us at P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684?
3. Send addresses for Chained or Penned Dogs. This
is so CRUCIAL! Please, take the time to find out the address of that
chained or penned dog near you. To make our goal, we need to mail
at least 10,000 Valentines (we know they are out there - it is up to
you to find them!). Send address via mail, call 877.636.1408 to report
addresses, or e-mail them to info@dogsdeservebetter.org. You remain anonymous!
4. Sponsor Valentines. The
cost of this campaign is quite high, due to material and mailing fees,
but it is well-worth it! You may either sponsor Valentines for
addresses you provide, or sponsor Valentines for others who provide us
with addresses.
In 2007 we delivered over 7300 Valentines to chained or penned dogs! Help us to reach 2700 more forgotten pups this year. Read more. |

Success Story Bobby, the Dog that Refused to Fight

Andersen, SC - Bobby was living on a chain in a very bad neighborhood before Cynthia came to his rescue.

refusing to fight when thrown into a put with another dog.
