Work Party Weekend at the Good Newz Rehab Center in Smithfield, VA! Meet New Kids Anthony and Jada, and who can Forget Hef?

Can You Chip In for some Fencing Supplies?

We're having a work party at the DDB Good Newz Rehab Center at 1915 Moonlight Rd., Smithfield, VA this weekend!

(Please send good weather...please send good weather...)

Our dogs want to RUN. Let's face it...they've spent their lives on a chain. Now they go on two walks a day out in our huge field, but guess what? Since they've started testing their boundaries, most of them have to walk on a leash, when what they really want is to RUN, RUN, RUNNNN!

We really want to get at least five acres of the property fenced so they can blow off some of that lifetime of pent up energy, and then we can work with them on obedience training when they are tired and more amendable to learning.

We need another 1000 feet of fencing to finish our loop. We have 200 purchased, and if we can get another 200 feet before our work party this weekend, we will be that much closer to our goal. Slowly but surely we will get there, and our dogs can frolic.

Won't that be a joy to watch? We can't wait!

Can you come out and volunteer this weekend? We've got lots of other projects you can work on if you're not the fencing type...garage cleaning, dog bathing, fence fixing...weeding. All VERY exciting stuff!

If you can't come out, can you spare a few bucks for some supplies for the work crew? We'd REALLY appreciate it, and will be sure to get you some after pics!

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give us and our current pack of 14 dogs, to include Shawnee, Spotty, George, Jada, Riley, Ebby, Sloan, Polly, Darla, Cowboy, Storm, Rose, Hef, and Anthony.

Two Emaciated Dogs come to the Good Newz Rehab Center over the Weekend

Adorable Anthony, after his first good meal in a long time, and his first bath of the week.

Help with Anthony and Jada's vet bills.

It was a crazy weekend at the center, with the addition of not one but two starved dogs!

We had just gotten two spots open for new dogs at the Good Newz Rehab Center, when the universe sent over two very needy dogs to fill them!

Jada was the victim of starvation and injuries suffered when thrown from or being hit by a vehicle, and Anthony is a completely emaciated hound from a pen right here near us on Moonlight Rd.

Read more of their stories and pitch in to help with their vet bills here:

Thanks for caring about the dogs we work so hard to protect!

I have to tell you the good news! Since contacting you, our family has been working very hard w/Danica. We've researched all we could on dog training, dog habits and dog behaviors.
Over the last few weeks we have been implementing these modifications and she is responding wonderfully. Danica and the puppy play and are getting along great. All the dogs, including Danica seem to be much happier w/what we have been doing and we can really see a change and less and less fear and acting out behavior in her.

We know that we need to continue working w/her, but we feel we are on the right track. She is no longer in her pen or segregated from the other dogs and we are so happy about that.

We still have a lot of work to do, but we are just happy that it is working out and plan to continue working w/her. Because of this we are going to keep her and have no plans to re-home her or anything of that sort.

At the time, we were scared, uneducated and didn't know what to do. You and your organization were the only people who did anything to help us. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and let you know how much it was and is appreciated.

I have nothing but admiration for you and your organization! Thank you so much!
