These are some of the dogs our sponsored dogs helped—because of your generosity!

Buster with his gifts. He received a package
from MA and ME. We sent thank you cards,
complete with Buster's own message, to both girls.
Thanks! Heather, David & the Gang

Gouda holds a fashion show
with his sexy new attire from Kim!

King sports his antlers, smiles for the camera, and plays tug of war with his favorite toy!

Sable with her gifts, thank you!

Tyco was thrilled with his holiday gifts.  The pull toy is his favorite! He kindly shared all of his presents with his two foster sisters...because that's the kind of sweet guy he is...

Dogs Deserve Better
Holiday 2006 Program Photos

We'd like to take this time at year's end to thank you for all you've given to us and the chained dogs, and to wish you a wonderful holiday season. We've had so many successes throughout this year...laws changed, fences built, dogs rescued, people and society educated...it is staggering to know we're now in our fifth year, and we are not stopping now!

The sponsored Foster Dogs have a message for you too: THANK YOU FOR THE BEST HOLIDAY PROGRAM EVER! Each year as the number of dogs grows, we wonder if our donors can handle it...and each year you exceed all our hopes and dreams.

This year we encouraged more person to person packages—Most if not all of the 28 dogs received packages from you. Every single dog in our program received a petstore gift card for $110 on top of any packages and gifts they've already received.

Now, for the part we love the most! Each year our dogs 'pay it forward' to other chained/penned dogs that are in need of help. This year we were able to do even MORE than ever before, thanks to your generosity. See the pics on the right for some of the dogs we've helped.

Shadow, in Burnside, PA, who Veronica Muse rescued and brought into her home, despite already having 5 dogs. You and the sponsored dogs paid for Shadows vet and grooming bills. Sadly, Shadow passed away on Saturday, December 23rd, at Veronica's home. Although we are deeply sorrowed, we are so grateful that she knew weeks of love thanks to Veronica, who cared enough not to let her die on the end of that chain.

Kaidan, a disabled puppy who currently cannot walk, a victim of backyard sibling breeding...thanks to Ann and Woody Hay of PA who stepped up to adopt and care for him. DDB has pledged to help with all vet care and future financial needs he has, while they continue to do the hard work of daily care and therapy. Kaidan has received gifts as well as vet care to date, and already has two carts donated for present and future use!

Magic, a NJ backyard dog that impaled herself on a fence post. Thanks to the Camden County Animal Shelter, she is alive and will need skin grafts; DDB (YOU!) and the dogs have provided $500 already for her care, and will provide more if needed.

You've also paid vet bills for Dexter, Molly, Loki, 5 Ohio Dogs, and 8 Maine dogs. You all are WONDERFUL! Please know what you have truly done for these dogs. You've provided MIRACLES.

The DDB Headquarters Gifts and Photos: This year at the DDB headquarters, where we are fostering Molly (who got a home during the program and so isn't pictured yet), Mia, Magnum, Nala, Dexter, and Beauty, we got so many packages we didn't know what to do with them all! We created the 'store' shelf you see above for our photo shoot with the dogs. We promise next year to make a list of everyone who sent packages and put on here, but for this year know how grateful we are to all of you and know that every toy and treat will be well-used throughout the coming year! (We did send thank yous, so if you didn't get one, please let us know.) Mia had a blast opening her wrapped gifts sent by a sponsor, and Magnum had to be put away for us to even get photos of the other dogs on the new beds with toys and treats...he was so excited he just grabbed every toy he could get and started chewing! That dog is a character...

Magnum 'shopping', chewing every toy he can find...

Nala only cares about the treats, Zip in Arizona only cares about the toys!

Bandit received boxes from Nicole Chipman, ME, Heather Boring, Pa, and Bonnie Bracken, IL. Each box contained about 10-12 items each!  I hope this was helpful, and thank you for doing this, well, for doing all of DDB, but having the dogs sponsored was a really great thing this year for Bandit!  Jayde is loving it too!!—Robyn Fanelli, Bandit's foster mom

Charlie is a bit of a hoarder when it comes to his toys...He was thrilled with his holiday packages and ate his bone up in record time!  Then he dragged each new toy out into the yard (away from the other dogs in his foster home) and played to his hearts content!  He really took a special liking to the purple stuffed elephant sent by doggie angel, Helen.

Fred was overwhelmed by all of the gifts he received...he did not know where to begin...so he just laid down on top them all! After carefully investigating each item...Fred chose a red and white rope ball as his initial favorite...well, until he discovered the rawhides and hooves...He was really crazy about the hooves...when he found one, he picked it up and ran out of the room to hide it from Maggie, his foster sister. Maggie really likes the big rope toys and taught Fred how to play tug-of war.

I just wanted to thank Megan Moro, Veronica Doster and Janice Casstevens for the packages you sent to Loki and for thinking of him this Christmas. He Loved getting his presents and really has enjoyed them over the last week, he had a favorite thing from each package. He still has his new bed, YEAH!!  As you can see in the pictures he had fun. After the first box came he was diving into the others as I opened them. I have a feeling I won't ever be able to open a package around him again, without him checking out what's inside. Thank you all for making Loki's Christmas a good one. He now has a whole basket full of toys and a box full of treats to last him a good while. I also want to say thank you to every one that sponsored a dog this Christmas, I hope they all had at least half as much fun as Loki. You know when you do the work we do, it seems you are always running across people that just don't care. Being a part of this program this year was great, it made me realize there are still good and caring people in this world. I had tears in my eyes after each package came, watching Loki, and reading the cards. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas as well And have a great New Year!— Angie & Loki

Luke was a dog we initially forgot to put on our page, but along came Beth and David Greeson, and they completely took care of Luke for us! Luke managed to try out his new bed with the two boys, it's big enough for all of them and really comfy, too.  We took some pictures of all his toys, bowls, treats, etc.  I'm hoping he learns to play with his new toys real soon.  I don't think he's ever had a toy before except for the duck I got him which seems to scare him when it quacks ;)  I'm sure the boys will be working on it.—Chris & Penny

Milana played and played, until her batteries finally wore down and she crashed on the couch with her chew bone! (see photo to right).

Thank you so much for the kind Xmas presents for Amos.  The great news is that he has been adopted by a wonderful man who has another dog and a lot of land for these dogs to run around on.  We got to bring Amos his gifts and he and his new dad were so grateful. Amos really had a good time (as you can see).—Denise Bitz

Oreo loved all her Christmas gifts, and the best gift of all this New Year is a new home for her, she's finally been adopted!

Thanks so much to all of you who sponsored gifts
for the formerly chained and penned dogs!
