The Life of Princeton

We have neighbors that bought a german shepherd mix about 4 years ago when he was a puppy.

Princeton had such a sweet spirit; he never bit anyone and when he did come up to you he automatically would lie on his back because he wanted his stomach rubbed.

His owners tied him up in their yard. Although they fed him and gave him water, no one ever played with him. When he Was loose, he tried to run away several times. If we were outside he would jump by us--he just wanted to play.

One day My husband caught one of the children kicking him as he was tied and it was not his place but he yelled at him to stop. These neighbors kept him outside no matter what the weather and although he had a dog house, we saw him lying outside of it more than he was in it. More nights than not, our sleep was
broken by his barking or howling.

We have three dogs ourselves and they are inside dogs although we have a fenced yard that they run around in. We are animal lovers and you can imagine our shock and horror when our teenagers went outside last Thursday morning and found Princeton hanging over his fence.

Whether he heard thunder or saw a rabbit or just wanted to get out, he was chained and was put too close to his fence and hung himself as he tried to jump over. Our neighbors were home and had no idea. My husband rushed to take him out of his collar and brought him to their door. Although they cried, we told them to bring him to the vet which they didn't do. Twenty minutes later our doorbell rang and they said
they had buried him.

This was a sad day for us. We knew they should never have had a dog but it's not as if they neglected it --they did feed it and give it water--so what could we do? Poor Princeton was just a nuisance to them because he dug and escaped from their yard. What can I say but Dogs Deserve Better!!!

Our neighbors wouldn't listen but maybe others will...for Princeton's sake.
