'Worthless'
and 'Chance' were rescued from
their chains on October 23, 2002.
''Worthless',
as he was called, now Bo, is the black lab mix you see just above.
Chance, whose name can happily remain the same, is the shepherd
mix pictured across the top.
Two
beautiful dogs. They were in dire need of training, housetraining
that is. Both are male, were unneutered, and in need of some serious
household manners! But with some persistence, some veterinary help,
and a lot of love, they are both now fixed and housebroken.
The
caretaker of the two dogs readily gave them up, complaining that
his daughter didn't feed them anyway, and he had to come home from
work and feed them. He said he wouldn't chain any more dogs outside,
and DDB prays that is true.
Bo
is a very special dog to me. He is the dog you see pictured in the
opener to the site, and on the donations page. I always promised
him a better life, and he is my inspiration for Dogs Deserve Better.
I never knew his name was Worthless, and I now tell him all the
time, "You aren't Worthless anymore, baby." I have
found a wonderful home for Chance, with Polly, who fell in love
with him from the first moment she met him. She is very willing
to continue to work with him and help him learn 'the rules' of doggie
behavior. He made leaps and bounds of progress while with me, and
she will be continuing to 'raise him up right.'
This
first rescue came way before Dogs Deserve Better was ready for it!
We are in need of a fenced in yard, money for neutering and shots,
food, and cleaning materials now, as well as money for the ongoing
education that is needed in this community and across the nation.
When you look at these faces, and see how happy they are to be out,
you know it is all worthwhile. Please help today.
